Maaike is a dedicated animal care professional and a proud Colorado native with a lifelong passion for animals. She began her journey in the animal industry as a pre-teen, volunteering at grooming parlors and pet sitting throughout middle and high school. After graduating high school, Maaike spent a decade at a pet boarding and daycare facility, advancing from kennel technician to general manager.
Alongside her career, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in biology from the University of Colorado Denver. In 2021, Maaike embraced a new chapter as the Practice Manager at a small private veterinary practice in Golden, Colorado. She is now excited to lead Berkeley Animal Hospital, where she combines her extensive experience with her love for animal care.
Outside of work, Maaike enjoys life with her toddler and her array of pets, including two skinny pigs (Rip Van Wrinkle and ArchiBALD), two cats (Cuddles and Mr. Henry Noodles), and a 12-year-old creamsicle corn snake named Princess Astrid.
